Beautiful instruments John. Have you built many out of non-traditional uke wood and if so what kind of response have you been getting to them? Here in ukes-ville everyone wants koa but I would imagine seeing an ukulele that pretty would go a long way to convince someone otherwise.

I actually just build a very non traditional one. It was african blackwood/
LS Redwood. The guy loves it, and I already got an order for a duplicate
of it. Here are some pics of it.

Thanks! Yeppers it is indeed purpleheart. The blackwood one is a tenor
so the scale is 17" The first teo are sopranos so the scale is 13.625

I've been working on a maple one for some time. It is a maple tenor
cutaway gonna do a full body (front, back, sides, neck) burst on it...

Well I think they all look amazing. I really like the blackwood/purpleheart. Always interesting to see what your upto and I'm blown away there is a market for ukes in the 1000+ price range.. Building ukes must also keep the wood bills from getting too big Bet you can find some amazing deals in lumber yards just because the width required is so small.

Well keep er up and I can't wait to see them in person!
